Are you planning on renovating your rental properties? If so, one of the keys to success when it comes to renovation is finding a contractor you can trust.

In this article, we will provide you with tips on finding the right contractor so you can have confidence that your renovation project will be completed on time and on budget.

Tip #1 – Review Their License

Although some unlicensed contractors may be able to promise you a lower bid, the reality is that it’s always better to work with a licensed contractor because they will be licensed, bonded, and insured.

When speaking with a contractor you should always insist on reviewing their license and if they don’t have a current license you will know that it’s time to take your business elsewhere.

Tip #2 – Review Their References

In today’s world, it’s not uncommon for some companies to have fake references online, so it’s important that you request a contractor references and take the time to call those references and learn more about the quality of work that they performed for their previous customers.

Tip #3 – Review Their Record with Local Authorities

One important tip that every San Diego Property Management company will agree on is that you should also check a contractor’s record with local and state authorities or organizations like the Better Business Bureau.

Reviewing a contractor’s record will let you know if they’ve had any complaints against them in recent years and you will know without a doubt if you should ultimately hire that company or not.
